How can I get any experience in the Industry?
Junior jobs require 1+ years experience, thus, I cannot get the jobs due to lack of Experience, but I cannot gain experience because I cannot get a job in the industry.

Tired to apply to some graduate programmes in the past but nothing came out of it.

I now finished a new Higher Diploma but the same conundrum applies.

Any suggestions?

Sadly I cannot afford to do an internship as I do need a job that pays the bills in the meantime.

Thanks!

Hi,

When companies ask this you will want to assume the term, “Proven Experience”. Projects are the best way to go. This all depends on what specific job your are trying to apply for. Example: If you are wanting a Jr job that deals with web development you should probably start with something small like the Odin Project to add on that nice resume. Then you could go on to build your own website from what you learned from the Odin Project be in this area be sure to learn Java, JS, ruby, Linux, etc. Gaining knowledge and building projects as you advance in your personal time is the way to go. At least this is what many self made Individuals do.

Sincerely,

Tyler

Two people I went to high school with died in the past two weeks. One from cancer and the other, I think, from an overdose. My career ambitions surely l suddenly feel much less important.

Hope everyone can take a moment to reflect on how fortunate we are, regardless of what career frustrations we have.

I got a call for a Java position. I told them I do not develop in Java. I do JavaScript with React. He says “oh yes, that is what the client wants”. So I sent my resume. When he sent the confirmation email it stated Angular/Java. I told him that I don’t have much Java skills. He then sent this (pic) as a response. 🤔🤔🤔
When I spoke to the client she had no idea why the recruiter added angular react as it was just a Java developer position, Completely wasted so much time
