Litigation & Arbitration

How can I get into international arbitration? My firm has only one person who does this work and I’m considering a lateral somewhere that does more of this work, but recruiters want past experience.

Depending on where you are kind of a difficult field to enter. If you haven’t heard of Vis Moot look into that. The coaching opportunities and competition itself can be great networking in the field.

Incredibly hard field to break into. There are only a few thousand practitioners worldwide. Even still, most of them are ADR lawyers who take an international case when they come up. This isn’t a volume field and very few people outside of academics do it year-round. I did Vis Moot my 3L year and won a few awards doing it, but it didn’t lead to anything for me or anyone on my team. Without that experience, frankly, you’re incredibly unlikely to lateral as an associate. I’d reach out to the lawyer in your firm and express your interest. Also, reach out to your law school and see if this years Vis team needs help.

To elaborate, the one person who does this work appears to do it as only part of their ADR practice and usually works from another office, so it’s not like I can easily ask them to hop on files.

Thinking to jump from D to EY for SAP consulting (targeting a 15% salary bump). What factors should be considered in terms of difference of company culture, benefits, type of work, etc?

This years raise is pretty bad across the board. Wondering if this a sign that the firm is planning for a contraction of the market in the next couple of years. Has anyone seen historical average

I need some help. The distance learning model that has been implemented to my district has been intense by my district. I am part of the union and I was upset the superintendent was going to ask the principals for feedback on the model. I spoke up in my meeting and said that they should be heading directly from the teachers but they don’t know how. I suggested a survey which was approved but they don’t know how to make one. SMH 🤦‍♂️

Extra-curriculars have me worried because due to covid my ecs have basically been nixed (not that they were that great since i was just starting out) and I haven't found new ones I can do since I have to stay home with my parents who are at risk. Whats everyone who is thinking about applying doing right now in regards to this for apps?
