How can I let my manager know that I am stressed because of him constantly change his direction...

I think you might need to learn to manage your stress around it. I used to get really stressed because my manager would always yell at me and change her direction. She would expect me to know her reasoning behind her direction change . I just learned to be prepared for all her changes and to have answers.... basically be prepared mentally and work wise

I do take it personally when they do change directions and feel that I am not doing a good work

Agreed with consultant 1, I try to have check ins early and often. I show work-in-progress and I clarify the kind of feedback I’m looking for.

It’s almost *never*:
“what do you think of ___?” or “do you like ___?”

It’s more:
“since the strategy is ____, I’m putting this together like _____, do you think this is an effective direction to accomplish the strategy?”

This way, I’m guiding the conversation and helping the work feel more purposeful, and less likely to get blown up. It’s not bullet proof, but it’s been really helpful in reducing revisions and getting my work to be viewed from a more strategic place

What firm do you work for? Don’t you have a partner or someone senior than your manager?

I found to be really helpful to have additional check-ins throughout the process with teams that are constantly changing direction. It minimizes amount of additional work and also stress, since you learn earlier in the process which direction to go next

4 YOE in Federal consulting. Currently a C at $85K and just received a 5/5 performance review with super positive feedback from my team and leadership. Noted that I was the top performer and was doing stuff at a senior level.

How realistic would it be to break $100K+ in jumping elsewhere? Either at C/SC level. Might be a silly question but I want see others perspective. TIA!

Something about me is both a curse and a blessing - I can't ignore what is not clear, logical, aligned, and simple. Even if that means that I have to work several minutes or hours extra on a document or an email. Things bother me if they aren't as expected. Unless I understand something clearly, I can't let it go. This is what helped me excel at studies. At work, my obsession makes it hard for people around me. If people complain about me, should I just let it go or change my approach?

Lyft has had what seems like the same ACD Writer role open for months now. Just yesterday, I saw that CCO post it with a note on LinkedIn.

How have they not found anyone yet?
Should this be a red flag?

I've applied myself and haven't heard a peep, but I don't for a second think I stand a chance. So, I'm just curious if anyone has any light they might be able to shed as to the persistence of this open role. I know it's hard to find the right fit, but this is weird...

So my bipolar dad got declined for a mortgage because disability gets shut off in < 3 years when he turns 65. So now he wants me to co-sign for him. Between housing markets being up, my concerns over his money mgmt, and concerns over tying up my credit there’s no way I can say yes. He sold his house before being approved for the new one he put in for (against my advice). I know he won’t understand and will take this personally, and the family will probably take his side. Gonna be a long week…

How do you deal with irrational anxiety whenever your boss is saying “hey let’s schedule 1:1, I’ve got a few things to discuss”? I’ve never had a bad performance rating before, quite the opposite I have received positive feedback. I also know 99% of the time this meeting is harmless and my anxiety has been proven wrong many times. But I’m still always on edge whenever this kind of meeting is scheduled. 😩

Also, yes I do go to therapy and have discussed this issue, but it hasn’t helped
