How can I successfully negotiate a higher signing bonus? Received a post-MBA level offer at a solid T2 firm. Base + bonus was in-line with market but signing bonus felt a bit low. Is signing bonus only for post-MBA level hires coming from MBA or can experienced hires negotiate as well?

Doesn’t hurt to ask. Mention that you lose out on your current vesting or something

As I prepared to file my notice, the partner of the firm called me and asked me to stay. They’re willing to promote me mid year in December and increase salary next year in August. The current offer I have gives 60% pay increase and Partner still can’t match that offer after promotion. Firm leadership says here I have potential to be a partner in 8 years and talk about all the leadership support I have rn which is fair. Is this one of their tactics to make me stay or should I just leave…

Can someone explain this sense of entitlement by the younger generation? When I hear the younger gen complaining that they aren't getting paid enough when they start at 70k which is more than some experienced hires.....I just don't understand.

HELP! I just got a BCG consultant offer. PwC paid for my MBA. I still need to work here for 3 more years before not owing any of it back (currently would have to pay 100% of it if I left). Is the move worth it? Or should I maybe push to move to Strategy& (internal move) instead of BCG?

In your opinion what is a better life - being really rich like making $500k a year or more but no serious relationship. Or having a partner and family but making below $200k?

No weird flexes. What’s your emergency savings (no stocks pls) and how many months is it designed to cover? Bonus: what’s your current salary.

I am noticing that McKinsey is increasingly recruiting at non-elite schools (very roughly speaking not top 15 schools). At my old undergrad, 5 years ago the most competitive firm to show up was EY. This year McKinsey took 4 non-internship full hires. Why is McKinsey going “down market” for recruiting? Are elite school kids losing interest in consulting so McK has to cast a wider net? Or is McK seeking a wider pool for other reasons? I advise undergrads on consulting so want to be best informed.

Life is interesting. Had a messed up childhood, <2.0 GPA in high school, dropped out of community college, finagled my way into IT consulting starting at $50k, worked up to $120k, completed my bachelors online last year, just started a Sr. Cons in Strategy role for $160k.

Facebook - Program Manager in Security and Privacy - $160K base/$100K RSUs over 4 years/$20K sign-on. Bay Area I have 6 YOE at Deloitte in Cyber since graduating college. Why don't more (white collar) Americans take breaks in-between jobs? Like a month or two summer break. Is this mindset that you need to work all the time a vestige from back when people would work at the same company for 40 years until they die?

Trying to assess if an mba is worth it (25 year old male). I am a VP making $200 K in pharma transaction advisory considering moving to IB. Worth the two year hold on my career and $400 K in lost salary? It’s terrifying to go back into debt...

Caught a candidate and offerree lying about his GPA. Resume had a 3.9 and background check returned a transcript with 3.7 (doesn’t look like he was ever close to 3.9). Seems like a bright kid though, mostly just unsettled by the need to lie. What would you do?

AITA? Covid Scenario I live in a higher end high-rise residential. I went to get groceries with my mask on today, I was out of disposal, breathable ones so had a thicker cloth one.
