A lot of people need help with post or are concepting new work that is less reliant on shooting. The emails I receive that frustrate me are the ones that seem to blatantly ignore what is going on, or those who follow up if I don’t respond. I try to get back to everyone who reaches out to me, but agencies are absolutely slammed trying to navigate shoot cancellations, WFH, etc, so if I don’t get back to you it doesn’t mean I didn’t see your email. I think a polite and genuine message reaching out and mentioning your capabilities is totally fine and appreciated, but I would avoid those two things.
Thanks! That’s really helpful advice and pretty much what I’ve been doing. A quick email saying I’m available if needed and acknowledging the current craziness. And I just leave it at that.
...but we don’t want to be putting additional strain on your inboxes letting you know we exist while everything is in disarray.
Agree! As a freelance editor I’m set up to edit from home. And I really need work (if there is any!!). But do people want to hear from me that I’m available and set up? Or is that just an annoyance right now?
Sounds like rep delight to me
