Be perfect.
Leave. I have yet to find a way to work with these people (that doesn’t destroy my mental health). They extend their personal issues into work way too much (perfectionism, need to control).
My manager is like this, and I’ve been freaking miserable ever since I got put on her jobs last year. She just needs so much reassurance and wants to make sure I’m doing enough detailed work, and that my work papers are in her favorite font, font size, color, etc. It sucks, but what’s helped is changing my work style to be similar to hers. I’m still miserable AF because there’s a limit on how detail oriented anyone can be. I’m type A, but not to her level. She seems to appreciate this, and mentioned it on our snapshot. But damn I cannot keep doing this. Trying to switch out of her jobs.
Oh yeah this is our internal document. Not being sent to client. I’ve pushed back, but it lead to her being petty with me. It’s not fun working with her. The only way to make her happy and lead to nice reviews is if I kiss her ass.

For real, please someone tell me. I want to know.
Is the issue that your work has errors or that they make subjective stylistic changes?
Leave. If they are micromanaging control freaks, it’ll be a natural paradox to think you can have a talk and let them adapt to your ways....
I lean towards acute accuracy but don’t micro manage adults so can’t help you there. My tips on the perfectionist side: Perform self reviews, make sure you’ve checked for technical errors and keep it moving. Stylistic preferences shouldn’t end up with bad feedback but ask them why something needs to be a certain format. Don’t take feedback personal. Hear it, correct and move on.
Be proactive, give status updates, be honest with the status’s too, eventually you’ll gain trust and they will leave you alone
