How can you tell someone to speak slower? Between me being newish, bad connection, and my senior fast talking, I’m feeling stressed, like very. How to say it without making that person feel mad?

When someone has a thiccc accent I usually just take notes down and just tell them at the end of the meeting “ to summarize we need to ...etc”

like

Just say slowing down. Are you new hire? That is totally reasonable

like

Been here 6 months but yeah first audit season

Cut your feelings out and politely ask them to slow down or repeat back to them to make sure you got it. You’re trying to do your job well and get better at it. Just say you want to make sure you’re getting it and they will understand/appreciate.

like

Yeah summarize notes and repeat a lot to them. If you don’t understand but really do t want to ask your senior to repeat it, then just say you are not sure you understand but need some time to think over. Then you can ask again the next day and won’t be tagged as “forgetting” things

like

If it isn’t in a formal meeting environment, I usually just cut in as soon as I start falling behind with something along the lines of “just to make sure I understand” and summarize what they say or ask a question to explain what was said so far to slow down the conversation

like

Take notes and repeat the request back to the senior to check your understanding. Say “I’d like to check my understanding - in summary, what you’re saying is....” This is a trick that works with clients too.

like

Say yo hold on how the f do you expect me to write that fast? I'd just be overjoyed that you're taking notes tbh

Hello everyone!
I’m seeking advise from fishers. My brother in law is going to university next year. He was engineering (which is one of the worse decisions someone can do from my experience LOOL). I told him if anything he should do managment engineering which he got accepted to. He also got accepted to Mcmaster- information management systems. Which in my opinion you get a bit of everything! And this degree is picking up a lot of traction’s across tech. More thoughts in the comments

Know for a fact I do not want to do litigation after one year. Want to try transactional work because I eventually would like to go in house. Firm reluctant to move me around right now because there’s a lot of work in litigation. I don’t want to wait around hoping they will put me in another practice area and jeopardizing my chances at an in-house position. Should I be looking for new jobs?

I am an Abinitio Technology Architect in Infosys and currently working as data designer . Some times I get pulled as Technical lead as well.

I have an offer from Barclays with ETL Designer role and also expecting another offer from Transunion which would be Senior Lead in Abinitio. Please suggest which one to opt. Transunion is paying slight higher. But Barclays role is similar to my existing Role in Infosys.

My “possibly toxic” trait is I don’t want to be helped. We bought our house with my husband and never got a cent from anyone and we furnished it ourselves. Now I’m pregnant i don’t really want gifts. We have already bought 70% for our baby and i just don’t want gifts although fam and friends are keen to gift. Am i petty?

I’ve been thinking of making a switch from audit to TAS. I’m currently a S1 (2 busy seasons experience), and rated as a top performer at my firm. I’m contacted by Kroll, but recruiters there told me that since I haven’t got any TAS experience, I should be applying for their Analyst role instead of Senior Associate. Honestly, I want to switch to TAS but not that desperate to leave my firm. Anyway, I just wonder if you guys have the same situation and usually how long it takes to get promoted?

Anyone else here actually find auditing enjoyable? Yes, the hours are insane. WLB hasn't been good for me. But I feel like I'm always learning new things on the job even after 6 years.
