It might not be you. It could be your boss, clients and expectations.
Sometimes it’s not your fault but bad people make it your fault. Sometimes it is your fault and it’s a learning experience. Sometimes things are doomed to fail no matter what and you just can’t see it yet. Hope that helps.

If you like advertising, keep at it! In retrospect, I was a good AAE, an okay AE, then a super bored and incredibly under challenged SAE. Finally found my people and right mentor and teammates at a different agency.. CW and VP above are right. And at an AAE level, trying really hard, I’m almost certain that you’re not being mentored or supported in the ways you need to grow.
I forgot to add that maybe “the fit” just isn’t there. Ask to move teams or accounts. Maybe you’ll flourish in a difference scenario.
Cheer up. We’re all in it together.
Sometimes it’s just the environment surrounding you that prevents you from putting the best work out there. Are you over resourced? Is your team toxic? Do you dread the work itself? Were you set up for success with a proper kickoff and set expectations? A lot of times when I “miss the mark,” I have to take a step back and look at all the factors that contributed to this end result. Of course, we all make mistakes. But the times I beat myself up about it the most are usually when I’m already stressed and frustrated. And in those moments, your best is all you can offer and that should be enough.
