How cautious are people actually being during coronavirus? I’ll make a poll in the comments, but is there any data on stay at home compliance?

There’s been analysis of anonymized cell phone location data that compares average travel distance before and after SIP took effect. TLDR is that it depends greatly on location (at least in the US), but average travel has dropped everywhere, has dropped by more in areas where SIP was instated earlier, and has dropped more in left-leaning locations.

Level 2 - leaving the house for groceries at least, ordering in food every once in a while

like

Level 2 + daily walks and weekend hikes with my dog. I follow social distance protocol and wear mask and gloves when I do.

like

Level 2 - plus I go on runs/hikes outside

like

Level 1- Staying at home and only getting groceries delivered

like

I guess we are closest to level 1. I don't go out at all and my husband handles the groceries. Weve got it down every 2/2.5wks. No other contact with the outside world

Level 7 - licking public toilet seats

funnylike

I think that’s level 11, and not virus-related.

Level 3 - letting significant others go between their home and mine, but otherwise following stay at home orders

like

Level 4 - forming a quarantine pod of friends/family who had effectively stayed at home for 2 weeks

like

1.5: only going out for groceries but not ordering any food in

like

Level 5 - hanging out with friends in small groups (less than 5), indoors

like

Level 6 - having coronavirus parties

funny

Well you’re the only level 6 so far, so if that’s any indication...

Level 2 + Level 3

like

Level 2

Level 2: we only go out for walks. Food is delivered, and there are no take outs.

Level 1

This is not MECE

Level 2...order out once a week to support some local businesses and I am the grocery shopper for the house

Level 2ish. Supporting key hyper local shops I want to survive via to-go orders placed online or over phone, but also only based on those taking it seriously themselves. Tipping on all things at roughly double our old sit down restaurant levels. Some have set up new online-only ordering they didn’t have before, plexiglass in place between staff and you, open doors or outdoor pickup, new no touch phone payments if not online only payment, etc. This earns my business until they are back up and running, although still purchasing in bulk such as 4lbs of coffee beans not 1. Grocery shopping, but only once every 2 weeks or so and switching to stores taking distancing and limits seriously. Bye bye Safeway and your lack of customer control. Hello 1 person in a long line at Costco getting ~15 days of food for both our household and in-law elderly parents.

Most of my neighbors are having parties with 5-10 people every night, so not great. 🙄

...where?

Consider a new pandemic, at what % fatality rate do you think vaccines will mandated by law for all citizens? This is not the last pandemic society will face. COVID has a low death rate compared to Ebola for example. What % fatality rate would it take for governments around the world including the US to legally require mandatory vaccinations of all citizens? Would it be 10%? 20? 50%? fatality rate? Or will we never mandate vaccines in lieu of personal freedom?

I'm so thankful that EY has not made the Covid19 Vaccination a condition of employment and they allow work from home to remain an option. Such a great employer. I don't want the government or my employer to dictate what happens to my body, we must always have freedom of choice. That is one of the things that makes US a wonderful place to live. To all who received the vaccine I'm happy you had that option. I will wait a few years until there is enough vaccine data before I put it in my body.

Does anyone have any thoughts about a company terminating an employee within the HR team for testing positive for COVID 19 and further accusing the said employee of being the one that created the entire team to become infected by not answering the health screening questions accurately? The week prior to employee being tested the entire team was in the office sick. The company in question weeks prior wrote the employee up referencing sexual innuendo due to an accusation of a preferred name.
