The cost of living is higher in Austin than Atlanta, and the work is sophisticated. Dallas is a bigger legal market than Atlanta
Cost of living in Mia and Austin is higher. It might not be for long. I have a feeling the ATL offices will get there.
Isn’t it funny how we all consider “market” pay to be what only 5-10% of firms pay 😂
Don’t agree with you on the large company presence as a proxy for complexity of deals. Regardless, the Texas market generally is pretty tight for transactional associates. Firms are desperate and are willing to pay full market.
Especially considering the work in Atlanta is likely more complex than Austin and Miami; I am basing complexity off the number of large companies.

Paul Hastings, Hunton and Mcdermott pay market in ATL as well. Eversheds and Troutman are currently at the old Cravath scale of 205k for first years (I think).
