You drank the Kool-Aid.
There can definitely be some pressure to pop online when you see emails from seniors, managers etc. over the weekends but you have to take advantage of the non busy times and not work unless there's something actually due on Monday. Only way to survive public accounting imo otherwise it's easy to get burned out.
That's not by accident, you've been indoctrinated (or drank the Kool aid as someone already said). From the moment you walk through the doors as a new hire they try to convince you the world of public accounting is a meritocracy and if you work hard and give up your life for the cause you will be rewarded...and you will to a certain extent...its just not as serious as they intend to make it. You know the people who always seem to be about two weeks behind on everything yet are really successful at the firm? They've figured it out. Don't feel guilty, just get to it when you get to it. Deadlines are never real.
I completely agree. I get the same guilty feelings all the tjme
No guilt felt here.

Thanks EY1, I can't finish what I meant to finish this weekend, but I think I am gonna sleep after all...
