My current n95 masks are actually from the h1n1 pandemic. I got a few boxes of 3M 8612F masks which were FDA cleared for use during pandemics ("to help reduce wearer exposure to pathogenic airborne particulates during public health medical emergencies").
We were fortunate that we had:
1. An existing drug treatment. H1N1 was found to be susceptible to oseltamivir (tamiflu).
2. Existing production lines and methods which were already geared to influenza vaccine production. There was a monovalent H1N1pdm09 vaccine produced.
3. Lower R0 and lower case fatality rate. H1N1pdm09 was a mix of different strains of influenza but did not pick up the most virulent/deadly mutations known.
Lower CFR is the real kicker here

Because A1H1 didn’t exist 🤷🏾♂️
It wasn’t an election year.

The transmission rate (R0) for swine flu was not nearly as high as SARS-CoV-2. This pandemic is more similar in transmission rate to the 1918 Spanish Flu, and there was a huge push to wear masks back then (and an Anti-Mask League resisting it).

I think I am going to start the Anti-Anti-Mask League (tm). Let me know if you want to join... 40% discount for fishbowl friends
Well this post is moot. The CDC is about to take the “pandemic” label off this disease due to the plummeting number of deaths involving the virus.

OP what are you getting at?
Trying to tell us that they failed science classes in high school and don’t like using Google.
Probably the same reason there weren’t vaccines in the 1600s. You probably had an uncle the smoked 3 packs per day for 60 years and never got cancer so smoking must not cause cancer either.
