How common is it for agencies to let go of UX designers?

Very rare, they’ll try and fight to have you stay

@intern Look for agencies where strategy and UX are integrated or go into tech instead of advertising.

@intern I agree with @Leo Burnett that you will need to find agencies that are structured to support UX. Also when you interview make sure you are asking what UX means to the organization and what that looks like in practice so you have a clear understanding and expectations

@ Intern - Beyond has some really good advice. Plus you can also use fishbowl to your advantage...ask us and we can help you out by recommending good places by location. UXers to the rescue. @VSA - Ugh that makes me sad. I know some really talented folks in UX there, time for me to reach out to my people.

@Intern - don’t go tech if you’re a woman. Not worth it. UX in ad agencies is just starting to be understood. There is work for 4 of me in my office, there is only one of me, but account doesn’t understand how to incorporate UX. It’s still a jungle out there, but a growing one. Go somewhere there are other UXers and a good sense of community. (Creatives at some traditional agencies struggle with working with UX and see it as a competition

Not very common, but if the agency loses business anyone can get the chop - doesn’t matter your discipline.

I would say UX is def in higher demand

I keep hearing stories where UX was let go because it doesn’t really fit on accounts or clients aren’t familiar and don’t find a need for it? So that has me a bit confused, but then again I’m thinking I may be looking at the wrong places?...

@Senior UX Designer 2 my passion lies in designing meaningful and purposeful experiences for users. And when I say users I’d like to be inclusive of all type of differently able human beings. I’m interested in making seamless interactions within experiences. I wanna make the world a better place, by at least making it fun.

I want to defend the user in meetings, give them the importance egos in the work room cause I want to make sense of the utilitarian purpose of a product, campaign, etc...? Is that good enough?
