Additional perspective, you are most likely already making more coming in as an experienced hire so that is taken into consideration. Percentage matters less if your base is already higher relative to your peers.

appreciate that

I’ve had a bonus pro-rated but not an increase

like

Pretty weird way of explaining it on their part.

Bonuses are an obvious thing to be prorated, but for the base raise they should’ve just says yeah you’re getting 4%. Small raises are pretty typical for people who join firms mid year.

like

It seems likely they already brought you in at a higher salary point than your co-workers were awarded last July.
Inflation does pro-rate.
Inflation is measured monthly and has been rising steeply for over a year now.

like

Lol mine was prorated too…so i left. F that.

Yup that’s what happened to me. Was so angered, def not deserved especially given the high praise I was getting. Seemed like a joke. But ofc unfortunately it wasn’t. Lost motivation and started looking externally right after.

If you joined the day before raises were given, you wouldn't get any increase.

If you joined the year before raises were given, you would get the full increase.

Most firms have a cutoff date where you become ineligible for a salary increase and mid year is about that point. Getting half the increase seems like decent compromise

I’ve been with my company for 5 years and have never asked for a raise, I’ve accepted annual review we get without question. I love my job and my company but I don’t know how to ask for a raise 🙈 I know I deserve it but don’t know how to ask! Any guidance please ?

I am at 18.5 LPA fixed and have asked for 26 LPA fixed considering their was no Hike last year and this year hike letter is pending from EY; the HR is saying they don't pay more than 23.5 fixed at the S. Con. grade.
Waiting for EY hike to come in.. but meanwhile any S.Con. from Deloitte can confirm more than 25 LPA fixed comp.

Hi frens,

40+ Cis gender gay man here - often get mistaken by straight people as one of them and I think it's been a factor in getting an offer at a privately held, very Christian conservative company and I'm torn because the job sounds like a dream - their culture is leave-work-at-work and zero WFH which sounds amazing but I worry about values and culture clash around the water cooler.

I absorbed my managers responsibilities and about half of another role five months ago. I asked for a promotion and a raise. Received a raise but it still does not bring me to market value for the entry-level role that I began with. I was told they cannot promote me due to “supply chain issues“ and directives to remain highly profitable not just moderately profitable. Meanwhile I have seen three men promote in the past few weeks as they are now working multiple roles including leader ship.
