Additional perspective, you are most likely already making more coming in as an experienced hire so that is taken into consideration. Percentage matters less if your base is already higher relative to your peers.

I’ve had a bonus pro-rated but not an increase
It seems likely they already brought you in at a higher salary point than your co-workers were awarded last July.
Inflation does pro-rate.
Inflation is measured monthly and has been rising steeply for over a year now.
Pretty weird way of explaining it on their part.
Bonuses are an obvious thing to be prorated, but for the base raise they should’ve just says yeah you’re getting 4%. Small raises are pretty typical for people who join firms mid year.

Yup that’s what happened to me. Was so angered, def not deserved especially given the high praise I was getting. Seemed like a joke. But ofc unfortunately it wasn’t. Lost motivation and started looking externally right after.
If you joined the day before raises were given, you wouldn't get any increase.
If you joined the year before raises were given, you would get the full increase.
Most firms have a cutoff date where you become ineligible for a salary increase and mid year is about that point. Getting half the increase seems like decent compromise
