Ok, so I have a couple of offers, one kind of lackluster, for the County. The other is for a credit union-I left credit unions a few years ago to join a FinTech supporting credit unions)
I was laid off last month and have had a flurry of interviews…this credit union offer is my favorite so far, I do have another offer I’m waiting for from another tech company which has a much higher salary range, but nothing is written in stone.
Should I counter? The offer is $95k for a project manager.
Congrats you’ve unlocked a new stage in your client relationship. You are ready to be partner.

Never been texted by a client, but why is it shocking to everyone that the client has a personal number? Wait. Are you the lucky people who get a separate work phone? Or do you just function solely through office phone call forwarding to your cell?
I must know. My clients all have my personal number because I’m not always at the office, so it is what it is
And mask wearing is overblown?
Pro
I don't text w clients.
I'd respond w an email.
Extremely uncommon. Don’t answer the text!
When I got furloughed, client called me on my cell and told me to leverage them for a new job. I don’t see anything wrong with replying back if it’s urgent.

Covid has changed my perspective on how weird this is
This. It’s changed people’s perspective on boundaries generally. Which is awful since they were pretty non-existent before. I have a client who has worked his way into having standing Saturday morning and Sunday evening calls. Never working for them again.
Rising Star
I’ve never had a client text me.

Well, if they have your number....it’s going to be completely common. If it’s on a Friday evening / weekend and you’re not comfortable with responding, I’d just loop in your manager or Partner on the project so that they’re aware. I would loop them in regardless bc they have to set the expectation with the client when the team is available.
How did they get your personal
Ever have to send a “Sorry, this was not meant for you” text?
I had a client text me and ask what our materiality was.

^ But texting still leaves receipts.
Surprised their texting and analyst instead of your manager (which would also be obnoxious)
It’s directly me because I’m close to the model. He’s ex I banking which explains it but still feels a bit strange

Idk...depends on the question. If it’s frivolous then I’d say red flag. If it’s actually important then I’ve had that. Not ideal but it is what it is!
@C1 WHAT 😬😬😬😬

The important question is how common is it for you to read the message/reply.
Why does the client have your personal number?

Client and I only text if it's an emergency. Set boundaries early.
Common
I’ve had a couple clients text and call me at all hours. Those clients I always ended up having great relationships with outside of work so I didn’t mind.
Being CFOs / CEOs (of smaller companies) it’s a plus from a networking perspective too
If the client kept things strictly professional I’d be a lot less inclined to respond outside of business hours to their random questions
Far too common and far too encouraged by partners!
Once or twice a month
Almost every weekend but I generally ignore nonemergency ones till Monday
