Thanks for joining! I didn’t see a bowl for working homeschool parents, so here we are! We are a unique bunch. I am a full time, single parent and homeschool an 8 year old girl. We have been homeschooling since the beginning in both VA and NC, with a Montessori and nature inspired focus. I blog, Help2Homeschool.com. Look forward to connecting.

Very common.
If you are an independent contractor (1099 income) it means you pay higher employment and social security taxes (basically paying the employer’s share).
If an independent contractor you do not get health insurance, 401K, or any other benefits. You have to pay for all those yourself out of pocket.
If *not* an independent contractor, you’ll get the usual stuff as an employee of the staffing agency, rather than their client. But they don’t have much incentive to give good benefits.
You should be making at least 50% extra per hour to cover the costs of being an independent contractor.

If it’s W2, taxes should be effectively identical for the same pay regardless of employer.
1099 instead of W2 is where you get hit hard with a lot of taxes the employer would have had to pay.
