how does your firm staff you on projects, and are there a lot of people on the bench at any given time? are people worried when they are on the bench? just want to know how it is for everyone else
As a new joiner to the firm, how many weeks of bench time are considered ok ? And when should I start looking outside ?
Has anyone ever put in their 2-week notice while on the bench and got let go prior because... no work?
Up at 4am due to anxiety from being on the bench for 2 months. Questioning what’s wrong with me and why I’m having such a difficult time getting staffed in comparison to my peers.
Need advice for resigning while on bench. I already have a start date with the new employer. Should I do a traditional two week notice or give <=1 week notice instead? My goal is to not burn bridges, but I also don’t want to get let go on the spot since I have nothing to “wrap up” besides HR tasks. I’ve read on here that sometimes they will let you go day of and pay you out for two weeks but I don’t see why any firm would do that for somebody not currently performing billable work...
Food for thought: With so many SMs and PPMDs stuck at home with kids and no help and with so many Staff, Seniors, Consultants, etc on the bench... (cont)
Drafted 4th in 10 team .5 PPR. Bench is a little underwhelming, but solid starters. Went with upside bench players. Got offered Brady/Mixon for Allen/Robinson, but I think I like Robinson over Mixon even though Mixon is getting drafted higher, but let me know your thoughts.
If you’re on the bench and give your 2 weeks notice, is it more likely you’ll work the 2 weeks or just be told to leave that day?
Week 3 on the bench. What to do? I am working relentless BD with a manager I like and I have applied to all roles in region and done heavy networking. Anything I am missing or ways to staff smarter?
One of the best thing of the job is you won't be stuck with the same people. I'm so glad I'll roll off soon and it's been so frustrating to deal with some ppl on my team.
Holding all else constant, do you prefer two continuous weeks of bench time or 10 hours less work per week for 8 weeks
How do I get my old project to leave me alone? I rolled off, but they keep calling me in for little things. My new project leads are okay with it for now, but I want it to end. What to do?
What is a Reasonable notice before being rolled off? Walked into work and they told me i’m rolled off as of tomorrow...
I’ve been on the same project for a year and am ready to move on. What are your best tips for initiating a roll off conversation?
I don’t understand how people keep posting about the bench and being unassigned. I’m in advisory(not audit) and my entire LoS is trending 90%+ utilization
Worst part of being on the bench is the feeling of dread you get when you get pinged on Lync "Hey do you have bandwidth to work on a deck? No charge code though!"
Got asked today best way to gather our own (agency's) 1st party data. My first thought is develop our own pixel to capture user data (ip, email, device ID) and store that in a database, then use it later for targeting through a LiveRamp or similar. No idea if this is right or there's a better way or where I'd start my research. Anyone want to point me in some sort of direction?
Hi Ladies! Does anyone have good recommendations for wireless headphones that aren’t Air Pods? Air Pods don’t fit or stay in my ears (I have small ears and often have to use child-sized). Thanks!
I work in a Rep Services Call Center for an Insurance/ Investment Company. Currently I'm pursuing my MBA at Western Governors University and I plan to get my Series 7 after my MBA so I can get out of the Call Center and advance my career. I'm looking for some advice / guidance/ideas for growth opportunities from here. I'd like to hear about good experiences and bad experiences people have had in this industry, where did you start, how did you grow from there, what licenses do you have, ect.
I’m looking into exiting consulting and moving into product management. Picked up a few books to read. Would a PM certification provide a lot of value? Any other tips are appreciated! Thank you.
My contract states if I pass the CPA in 18 months I get a $5k bonus. Do you think because of the pandemic there won't be a bonus once I am done ?
Hello! I see a ton of questions in here about interviewing and getting hired as a PM. I also know that it’s really hard as a manager to hire a great team. I’m the head of product at a growing startup, and just hired two PMs in 3 months. One a career switcher who’d never been a PM before, and one a seasoned principal PM. Whether you are someone who’s interviewing or someone who’s hiring right now, ask me anything!
Please be kind, genuinely looking for help. Started my Grad School journey and really want an idea of the quality of school I can realistically aim for. My profile: M / 27 / AA 3.1 GPA Frm a State university 6 YOE (3 in Big 4 Consulting) Active in community Prez of a few orgs Frm Chicago 100% open to relocate 1st practice GRE: 304 (151- V / 153 Q) Looking to pursue a tech mgmt concentration.
If you are separated from your firm and you are kept on payroll for an additional month to facilitate payout of severance when does the 60 day grace period count start? Is it on the last day on payrl?
Interviewer asked at the end how much more time I had left. I proceeded that I had about 15 mins left before I should head back to work. They then asked more interview questions for the whole 15 mins. Good sign?
Anyone have experiencing switching firms within Big 4, where you had a good situation and left a really strong network behind? Do you have regrets?
How did you decide which industry exit opps to look for? I see a lot of different types of exits but I’m not sure which one is for me.
Anyone in strategy/account consider an MBA? Would it be worth 2 years if I came back to advertising after 🤔
Confession:My temper is getting worse recently. I couldnt help flipping fingers silently in a phone call yesterday when the potential project PM asked multiple really dumb and vague questions😔😫 HELP!
Anyone who renege and get any backlash? I signed an offer with a big 4 for full time and am still interviewing with other companies. ( Was an intern last summer and my offer got pushed out to summer cause my masters is 1.5 years and I graduate in December (In my defense the big 4 refused to let me go to another practice.) Plus pressured by parents to accept something before I graduate.
Has anyone tried out the Branch Furniture ergonomic desk chair? If so, would you recommend it? If not, which chair would you recommend?
Hi Greg - Two questions. 1.What life lessons would you give to those who want to stick to consulting in the long run? 2.Same Q but for those who want to exit + what is the optimal role to quit Thanks
