The most successful FA I know is my father. He built his book by being out in the community and taking on responsibilities within civic organizations and making sure that he did the best job he could do with his role. He has 400 AUM, around 600 HH and is producing around 3.2
The most successful ones I know, took over a book shortly after entering the industry.
The most successful one I know personally started the retail wealth management for a small community bank about 25 years ago. I have no clue on HH’s, AUM of around 450 million and production right at 3 million.
Lots of small banks are looking for other revenue streams, I believe it is repeatable. I think he is stressed out - basically a solo practitioner with a couple of registered assistants
Most successful one I know. Has about 75MM AUM, maybe 300 HH and maybe 250k a year income. Built it by volunteering in organizations he was passionate in.
He never missed a kids game, took his family on vacation every year and never ever missed an anniversary with his wife.
"It’s not how much money you make, it’s about living your life on your terms."
Most successful I know: 32 years in the business. Worked for one wire house the whole time. Based in a town with about 200k population. Last he told me his production was about $18m. Not sure how much he takes home though cause he has 35 people working under him. His team is a machine. He is a mini-company unto himself. Some of his people specialize in 401k, some in UHNW, some in sub $1m accts. He originally built by doing seminars. Still does some though not the success they use to be. He has always spent a ton on marketing. He will admit it hard to track ROI with it but, by doing it year in and year out, he is now so well know in his area he is THE go to guy and has started prospecting more in other towns in the state.
His stats are crazy but his process is repeatable:
Build a solid team around you
Focus on customer service
Get you name out there
Don’t be afraid to ask for the business
Have a written game plan for your goals each year
Understand that it takes time
