How did you all become investment wizards? Are there books you recommend?

Funny enough, there’s a book called Hedge Fund Market Wizards. The author interviews 10-15 investors who did well in the 2000-2012 period. Very insightful. Shows that there’s no single way to invest and that you have to match your investing style to your strengths and personality.

For me it was CFA + CFP studying, then working as an investment analyst. Definitely don’t recommend my path lol

With the amount of printing, there will be some consequences. Inflation will be real, and it might be worse than what they are expecting. Tech will be the sector that will suffer the least and it will keep outperforming the indexes, just watch and see, SP500 there will be a lot of companies dead by 2030, china will rise, and we might never be able to buy a house ever again. But a market crash I don’t see it happening anytime before 2023 at least. Who knows I’m just an average retail investor.

No such thing as an investment wizard - it's a myth. Mostly luck and risk-taking which at times pays off other times bankrupt you.

In a market like this, a monkey that is trained to hit “buy” when any random equity investment comes up on a screen is an investment wizard.

I’m not a wizard, but I read a lot. I just Google my questions and then consume tons of content so that I get the full picture (never trust one source, read as many as you can).

My hope is to buy and rent out a apartment while also owning a house and house hacking that by renting part of it out. Trying to understand all the steps, traps, and how to find if it’s a good investment.

By close of eyes is not a reasonable time for any deliverable to be due. You work from home not 24/7. Let’s normalize standard working hours; if work isn’t done within eight to nine hours in day then it’s time for evaluate systems, if all those Zoom calls were necessary and staff utilization.

I’m convinced that while practice does help, case studies are fundamentally designed to evaluate your critical thinking skills and IQ — which are immutable qualities. No matter how many mock cases I do, I can’t seem to figure out how they work and therefore can’t crack any interviews (10+ tries). I don’t think I’m as smart as I once thought 😕😕
