Agree with above though don’t see the need to be so harsh (it’s Monday folks, can we at least not treat each other like crap?)
At your level focus on exposing yourself to diverse projects where possible and always strive to outperform expectations. Come into work with a can-do mentality even when the team/project/client sucks. Things will largely take care of themselves and over time you will build a network and specialized skills.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but you’re an associate. Associates are fungible. You’re immediate career plan should be very clear — perform at the highest level possible on any project you’re assigned. This will get you promoted. Take full advantage of all assignments, even the ones you think suck or aren’t part of your “career plan”.
You're 6 months in and wondering why you haven't made partner yet?
You haven't even gone through your first work-related divorce/breakup yet. My advice? Just keep your head down. Expose yourself to multiple things and if you like something, stick to it.

Thanks all- I totally get the sentiment of just being an Associate. I’m just looking towards the future, and trying to wrap my head around what that looks like. I guess I feel like I have to be super amazing, and so it’s hard to maintain the “keep your head down” mentality.
