I’m building a team within a new agency. I’ve worked hard for this opportunity. While battling serious imposter syndrome, I’m struggling with how to bring in people that might have a better skill set or more experience than me without fearing the company would “like them better”. Not work related but I didn't know where else to post. I just broke up with my boyfriend of 4 years. He was my first real boyfriend. I dated other guys but nothing that lasted this long. How many times have you been asked to do something “optionally” that’s something a) you have no interest in and b) something you should get paid a lot more for, but won’t? This has happened ~19382 times for me; finally happened at my current agency. When I tried pushing back and being firm about what I deserve, I was looked at like I was insane. Just feeling really defeated today.

I’m on a new account that has male clients and the other agency leaders are male. I was in a meeting where we arrived in masks but they decided it wasn’t necessary to wear masks since we were all vaccinated. I have stayed masked internally at meetings but I was caught off guard by how the client dynamic influenced me to take mine off when I preferred to keep on. I looked up the stats and men are less likely to wear masks and more likely to find them off putting. Anybody else running into this?

What is the best way to approach a resignation during the holidays? I’ve received a job offer I cannot refuse from a competing agency. I would’ve liked to remain at Grey for many years to come however promotion from within does not seem to be an operational consideration for “certain people” and I need to grow as a professional. A junior member in my team asks me a question about following up with a client proactively, and I love that. The problem is that when I tell her it’s a good idea she would ask me to do it. I’m not her direct manager but she reports to my manager so often times my manager asks me to do what this junior tells me to do. It’s a weird dynamic and honestly I don’t feel great because it happens too much and she gets the praises for asking me. How do I bring this issue up? Do I go to my manager first?
