Majored in HR in college and crossed my fingers I wouldn't end up as an office admin
I started my career 3 months ago, you guys are goals!
I got my start randomly applying to jobs out of college and just kind of continued on this path.
EA lateral role change to HR years ago
Started as an EA right out of college, jumped to a role supporting a personnel committee for external workers, then shifted to end-to-end support for our Senior Advisor population (typical HR stuff + invoicing support)
Personal assistant > executive assistant, then kind of thrown into an HR role when the company went through some org changes. Ended up loving it and 15 years later...
I love working with people so I felt that HR would give me that opportunity as well as job stability. I took HR classes in college and started as an HR Admin right out of school.
Staffing really and then I landed in a masters program and well here I am after a few years of head hunting I made the jump a few years back after getting my masters.
Started as a learning and development coordinator, inputting classes in Taleo and a ton of other admit work. Taught classes, but new that I wanted another area of HR. Transitioned to Campus Recruiting and have been here for 3 years. Still deciding what my next move is in HR.
I was an EA in Minneapolis. I heard that Houston was desperate for HR folks so I applied. They flew me down, interviewed me, and offered me the job. Within a month I was living and working in Houston.
I started as a contract HR worker, then moved quickly into a Recruitment Coordinator role. For anyone looking to build a career in HR, I think coordinator roles supporting either Generalists or Recruiters is a great way to start.
