For me, there are several vet pages/groups that are pretty informative. They were great starting points. Perhaps there is something equivalent for folks trying to change out of your profession. Next, I scoured the Internet for whatever resources I could find and read more about. For example, sites like mbaMission or vault that have “career profile” pages that gave me a better broad understand. Next, I tried to find contacts (mostly vets) that had transitioned into the professions and I asked to talk with them for a while. Then, repeated that process a few times and now I feel pretty confident about my decision. I’ll never know 100% until I’m doing it, but going in fully prepared means I made the best decision I could at the time.

I’m attempting to pivot. My current company is letting me try a new role for the same pay. I found it by working alongside those folks and thinking their job looked just as interesting, but easier and more fulfilling than my role. We will see if I’m right.
