First - understand what areas you are seeking help in, how you will work with this individual and why you deserve this persons attention. Then think about what you can offer them in return. The world works well in a give and take capacity. Next step, dig deep into your social media platforms , especially LinkedIn. Read, research, explore and make a list of a top ten best candidates. Once that is complete,
make a spreadsheet of all the candidates and a way of tracking your progress. When contacting possible mentors, start with a compliment. Share why you think they are aces in life.
Then quickly paint a picture and what you are seeking and why you would benefit from their skills.
Good luck- and most important- when you get blown off, thank them and try to keep the door open.
