In my experience (not related to covid), layoffs happen first, and then there’s an agency meeting afterwards.
It’s not a good feeling, whether you stay or go. Good luck.
Yeah, that’s how it was at my last agency too. The wait continues...
Horrible thing to be contemplating - sorry, but if it happens, you’ll figure it out.
Sister agency laid EVERYONE except leadership off on a Zoom call. The President had folks mute themselves and turn videos off. Then he relayed the bad news. For our layoffs, there was a weird all-agency meeting where leadership cried and talked in circles. Then we got individual calls afterward to let us know if we were reduced or laid off.
Please mention the agencies by name so that we can avoid them when all the agencies are desperate to hire in January
For DDB Malaysia, our CEO sent us all an email . The pay cuts ranged from none at all (the juniors) , 10%, 20% and 30% (top management). After we had an internal teams zoom call with about 50 of us where our hub directors were sent to 'ease the blow'.
For OMD we received a company wide email from the CEO on Monday notifying us of potential layoffs... and I was laid off on the following Thursday
I mean... at least there was a heads up. Time for people to get their shit together. Better than most.
Look out for the “Catch Up” meeting followed by an HR call.
The way it’s done means everything. We had no idea and company didn’t even mention people were layed off on weekly video call that followed. People talk so not telling your employees doesn’t mean they don’t find out. They do, and then they just think your cold af.
Fingers crossed that you won’t get a random calendar invite tomorrow morning for a phone call or a video chat later in the day.
Every time I get an email I jump a little. I get a lot of emails, so this has not been good for the ol’ ticker. LOL.
