For those who worked both at ACN Strategy and at MBB, how is the talent pool difference? Is it pretty drastic?
MBB helps their employees find an exit opp via alumni connections and an internal job search. Why doesn’t Big 4/ACN/IBM do that? It’s looked down upon to say you are interested in leaving.
Currently at a boutique cybersecurity firm where the strategy has shifted to MSSP focus. Most projects have been strategy engagements leading to transformations. Industry vs Big 4 vs MBB?
Received an offer for $100K salary and 0.04% equity for a post series A enterprise tech startup for a biz ops role & I have ~1 year of experience at MBB. Any advice on if this is a reasonable offer?
I used to always want to go to grad school for an MBA but now that I’m working, everything’s clicking and I’m on great projects, with a strong network and have some good years lined up. Continued...
Looking for some help from EY 🐠 Outside of Parthenon, do you have MBA vs non-MBA salary bands at SM? If more than one, can you share the salary bands? This would be for your advisory/consulting services. Also, what does your parental leave policy look like and any minimum time served before becoming eligible? Thanks in advance! EY
Does MBB have a GPS practice? If so, where do they recruit from for experienced hires? Big4, Booz, government itself?
Does anyone here know if MBA school admissions care if you leave big 4 for smaller firm before applying? Still a global firm but smaller. If so, why?
Can somebody provide examples of strong ECs? Is involvement in a local small business accelerator a good example? How to find time to participate if I work 60 hours/week on average? Or does a hobby like a youtube channel count as well? I need a top tier MBA degree for better job opportunities, and I don’t care about community impact. Gonna fake it if I have to. Help.
Has anybody hopped over from an MBB/T2/B4 type of firm to a boutique? Thoughts /perspectives? Would appreciate either a push off the ledge or a pull away from it. Generally fed up with the long hours, lack of project variety, and the firm’s small practice and lack of focus in my interest area and wondering if things would improve at a boutique that specializes in what I want to do.
Anyone on this bowl did MBA to switch to strategy consulting ? Me looking to network and figure out the ROI / decide
Any MBA folks want to share their MBA resume templates that I can use? Please DM me, TIA
Do firms hire MBA grads as generalists only or is it possible to join a specific practice? For example, the customer strategy practice at big 4 or MBB
Does anyone else find it absolutely hysterical that people group MBB/FAANG/PE/VC for the prestige-oriented folks and they never include BB IB 🤣
If FAANG PM roles are the new “prestige”, what graduate programs guarantee employment into FAANG at the same rate M7 lines you up for roles at MBB? Coding bootcamps don’t seem to be answer....neither does “Master in X”🧐
I'm not even a year in, but I am trying to find a way to advance my career as fast as I can. are certifications better than an MBA degree? if so, then which would you recommend? thanks everyone!
Consulting vets, normal? I was lured into consulting and lost benefits due to the challenging transformation program being right up my alley. I have a multi year contract with heavy director duties promising fast track to Sr leadership. Day 1 I find out Iead no one and the MD is in charge. A few months later I get involved in spending nights and weekends for 3 weeks making a 60+ page deck. Company wins part of the contract and hires 12 more. Since then I have been ignored by them. No bonus!
I have a friend who unfortunately was just laid off as a bank teller. He has four years of experience, but has never done consulting. Is this something that he could try his hand at? Or do you think that he should have more experience or certifications under his belt first? Trying to see if he can start as a consultant.
This week SUCKED and i spent the entire trip home talking myself into thinking positively. Told myself next week would be great, my mood picked up, and then I saw an email from a client that has already f’d my Monday. 🍻 everyone!
If a firm sent you free tech for WFH (monitors, docking station, keyboard, and mouse), are you obligated to return it once you leave? Obviously will return the laptop, but was wondering if it’s normal/expected to keep everything else. Insights appreciated! (Relatedly: laterals, do your new firms send you stuff or give you a stipend for your home office? Assuming at least partial remote for now)
I had about 6k on hold cause I had a few hotel@receipts that were pending. I check portal today and everything was cleared by ey audit without me responding to them . Slightly surprised. This
I need to learn how to do Time Series forecasting in R this weekend for a project. Does anyone have a favorite YouTube video or resource that got them up to speed quickly? I haven't done this type of analysis before.
Any non-contract remote PM roles out there? Or is this as rare as a unicorn? Would appreciate any referrals. 4+ of PM, finishing up MBA w/PM concentration, almost 15 YOE DoD. TS/SCI.
Thoughts on Credera? Starting the interview process and was curious how they are as a firm....
Have any of you tried remote work internationally for short periods (<2 weeks)? I know most consulting companies are not okay with permanent international remote but what if I do it as a short sprints abroad with majority of time in the US
I am on my 3rd H1B company and joined recently. The current employer is someone whom I have worked for before. If I get a better offer in the upcoming months, I would take it. I am concerned that the current one wouldn’t give me a customized Employment Verification Letter. I would need to get it from a common company template. How important it is to have a customized EVL and signature of the manager?
I’m coming back to my former job after 6 months and leaving my current position in one of the most toxic places I have ever been. Never thought I could be harassed in so many ways in such short period. Gladly, I left the door and they’re taking me back. Even though it’s a huge relief, I’m worried about how to explain to my coworkers why I’m back. I’m way too vulnerable to lay out the truth. Anyone here to give me a useful tip on how to handle this?
I'm struggling to establish boundaries on my project. I get new work assigned at 6pm most days and I'm told they need done by the next day. I start at 7am everyday. Anyone have advice on what I can say to leadership? I seriously can't be working 7am to 11pm every day, my personal life/family is really taking a huge hit. I don't mind the occasional long day, but consistent 14-15 hour days aren't gonna fly anymore.
WFH monday nap intiated. 💤
Black Consultants; I’m trying to assess how much “diversity” has actually been respected: How visible have your roles/work been? Have you been promoted? What service line are you in? Have you had AERT/Performance Reviews statused in retaliation? Have you been pressured to participate in after work activities that compromise your religion, personal, mental health, etc. ?
“In research conducted by Digiday+, 32 percent of agency professionals reported being worried about their mental health, and it doesn’t matter what kind of agency, whether media or creative." https://digiday.com/marketing/crisis-boiling-surface-burnout-growing-problem-inside-agencies/amp/
Hello Team, I just got my I-140 approved. So ready to get off the current job but I also know that I need to wait for 180 days before I can make the switch. As an Indian citizen, waiting for GC is not an option either. I might get an offer soon, should I be asking the new firm to wait until few months before they start filing H1b? Or is it okay if they start the transfer but I will quit only after 6 months?
I’ve been a nurse for 10 years in Boston. I have a few years of sales that involved a lot of travel. Looking to step away from bedside nursing and get back into sales. I’m also a bit discouraged with my earnings and the wife wants to go down in hours to spend more time with the kids. So far I’ve applied to a few Novartis jobs and the interview process has started. Any other companies that you would suggest? I figure leveraging my medical knowledge would be best but I’m open. Thanks guys
