How difficult is it to switch specialties within consulting? For example, I’m in strategy for higher education. How difficult would it be to transition to strategy within a for profit business sector?

Impossible. It's never happened before.

You need to network your way into for profit business projects and continue to build a brand. Or leave that firm and leverage into a firm that focuses on those clients. Translate your tasks and sell the story!

Thanks for the input. It doesn’t have too much to do with money. However earning power is more I want a little more of a well rounded experience on different types of projects. Education can get very repetitive

I feel like I’m being taken advantage of. I currently work on 3 different projects (soon to be 4) where I am the lead and only point of contact between the tech side and our own internal teams/clients. The internals teams that I work with are all m/sm/eds. Someone very glibly pointed out that I’m the most junior person in room as an S2. I work as a pm/ solution architect an am responsible for delivery as well as being the liaison between the aforementioned teams/ clients. Cont.

Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.
