How do conflicts checks work? In what circumstances during a conflict check would an offer ever be rescinded? What happens if you worked on matters your new firm may have been involved with as well?

I’m not sure if an offer would ever be rescinded based on a conflict, but typically, the new firm will implement a “Chinese wall,” essentially blocking your access to any matters that your old firm was involved in. For me, I had a couple matters at my last firm where one of my prior firms was involved, and I just couldn’t work on those matters and couldn’t even access the file materials on the document management system.

I feel like going to a simpler less stressful job - that gives you one day at a time - like customer support. I hear an email notification I get anxious. If I turn it off I fear I may be missing out on something I might have to respond. I feel that I have to be available at all times. Despite being appreciated at work, getting great reviews at work, I fear about my job. I am constantly afraid of uncertainty - things that are not even in my control. What should I do? How do I cope up with it?

Recruiters call me about my CV but don’t ever really get back to me with roles. One rang me about my CV regarding a role I was interested in. On the phone they said they’d email me if they were going to put me forward and never did so I submitted my application directly and got asked for an interview. Why are they calling me and then not putting me forward? Am I doing something wrong? (I am an NQ so no experience with recruiters)

There have been a lot of posts in the law and big law blog about legal recruiter comp. It seems to range a lot (saw second-hand info from $60k to over a million). Also saw someone say the “average” recruiter makes more than a 5th year biglaw associate (which I think would mean $400k+). Can anyone provide ballpark numbers? Considering eventually moving to recruiting, but couldn’t leave to do it for $60k.
