How do folks see travel changing for Senior Managers after COVID? It appears like clients are becoming more comfortable with remote working so I have to imagine they will push back on Mon-Thu every week going forward. Critical meetings will be needed but I feel like the days of 70% travel are behind us in senior roles on most projects.

I actually think the opposite will happen. Delivery work can be done remotely for the most part. Client relationship management on the other hand needs personal interaction so I’d wager that SMs and PPMDs will be doing the bulk of the traveling in the future.

It’ll be more varied. High travel for sales cycles, but the “relationship” maintenance part of a delivery is not so frequent as it’s all day everyday - most of our clients can barely squeeze a weekly sync up in

If this job settles in at 30-50% travel at the SM level I can see myself sticking around longer. You might be right, I’m billing 100% remote for 5 months now and all is going well. Would have been harder if I didn’t already know these clients though, not sure how well it would have gone.

Remote has worked well when everyone is remote but I expect that once clients are back in offices we will need to be there too. I’ve done splits between onsite and remote before and it just gets too hard to keep momentum or the people who are entirely remote lose out on key information.

SM here. I believe it’ll be mostly remote, with one night trips for critical meetings. More pressure downwards to M and C to be on site and delivering

I agree with Accenture 1 that you should expand on your POV. Why do you feel it makes no sense? I believe that M&C levels will be on site less too, but, still more than SMs. Basically, everyone will travel less but delivery folks will still have more.

I really appreciate any advice or insight you might be able to share with me and thank you!

Anyone have tools they’ve given their parents to help them learn / be more comfortable with technology as they WFH? My dad has been struggling having to rely more on computers / technology since he has started WFH. He’ll call me to help, but oftentimes I can’t sit through and help him figure it out since I am also working. Usually I’d just do it for him since it’s faster but in the long run him not knowing how to do things is stressing us both out. Any recs on training tools, etc he could use?

Thoughts on living in Hoboken? I currently have apt in East Village but haven’t moved due to covid and lease expires soon. I’m starting to like the idea of Hoboken, especially since my office will be in Hudson Yards. Post-covid, I also think I’m less tied to living inside Manhattan too. I want space and feel like I could maybe even keep my car with me in Hoboken. Seems generally cheaper too, but I’m less concerned about price than quality of life. Would definitely prefer more bang for $. Thanks!

Background: My midyear review was bad, and it was my first review. I was switched to a new team on a new project, where I was looking forward to starting on a clean slate. However, it just came to my attention that my mentor went behind my back and talked to my current new manager about me. Question: Is this normal behavior? He says he didn’t say anything about my prior review, but I’m sure he’s either lying or it was hinted at, which I don’t like, as it could bias my new review.
