How do generalists prep for interviews when exiting?

In each subfield there are a lot of options which all require specific knowledge. For example, in data there are governance, strategy, different domains of analytics, different types of engineering, etc.

If you apply to some of everything, you can't really prep for interviews. If you apply for a specific thing, you're inevitably underqualified vs the specialists. Feels daunting.

Be qualified enough to get the interview. Then hammer on how your broad knowledge base has helped in identifying and resolving related issues that a specialist wouldn't have seen. Also helps support the 'quick learner' and 'adaptability' arguments everyone likes to use. Then you can go into 'not having an opportunity to go as deep into the subject matter as you always wanted'. This role would be the perfect opportunity, etc.

I’ve worked with many different industry-sponsors and CROs throughout the years, but many jobs I am applying to require experience at a biotech/CRO/pharma company. Would really appreciate any advice or referrals. Thanks in advance!

I just can’t imagine going through this cycle much longer. Not emotionally stable enough to even think about interviewing.
