I just tell them. I don't want to go through the process and get low balled. If they decide I'm too expensive up front that's fine. The flip side is that I could come in low but that's unlikely to be the case as I usually do a bit of salary research up front.
I know there is the whole notion of getting the job and negotiating salary after but that's too much time invested on my end which I have little of. I'd rather just align right off the bat on a go no go criteria than waste everyone's time.
You can be as vague as “I expect to be fairly compensated given my experience and current labor demands” dodging around giving a hard number
Tell them you don’t want to talk salary until you are confident that you are a good fit for role and that they are serious about making an offer
I'm kinda with D1 on this. I do t want to waste my time if they can't even meet my expectations. Alternatively you can post in it like: I'm currently at $X and am on a good trajectory with my firm. I would consider offers that are competitive with the market and my experience
^perfectly reasonable as well
tell them a range, maybe it no less than 20% of what you earn today provided benefits are comparable. if not, up it by around 30%
I just give them a range and tell them it will depend on what I learn about the job during the interviews. Always worked for me.
