How do I ask for a salary adjustment when moving internally to a different area (Marketing to Product Management)? I have 8 YOE and a good salary, but PM salaries are significantly higher. Do I just state the fact above and share PM salary band numbers? Or do I make a case that I’ve worked very hard in my current role and was on track to get promoted in the next year. Taking this new role would set me back 3-4 years (hard to make the jump to Director) and I would like my salary to be adjusted.

A company I’m applying for emailed to schedule an interview, and is asking for my current salary.

I prefer not to share. Would saying “I’d rather not share” be acceptable, or it’d be better to share ?

I’m currently a sales development rep and I’ve been with the company for almost 11 months.
