For ACNers: How much % bonus did you receive?
I have been offered a Analyst 3 level role at Houlihan Lokey in the corporate valuation advisory services team (complex security valuation). They have offered me 145k (85k base+ 20k sign on bonus+40k bonus in the first year). I have 2 years of work experience on derivatives desk in a boutique.
Should I negotiate for a better base salary ?

Hi Fishers,
I've one from VISA of 31 LPA and another from Walmart of 37 LPA ( including RSU of ~4 Lac).
I've negotiated with VISA at the time of offer ( initial packege was 27, and got it to 31). Later, I got offer from Walmart. Even though the numbers offered by Walmart is high, I prefer VISA for their tech stack. Joining date for both companies are one week from today. Can I renegotiate with VISA again with Walmart offer? Will they accept last minute negotiations?

20k below seems excessive and you should def raise it with your counselor first and then hr. I've heard of ppl starting 15-10k more but 20k is absurd.
For context salaries of staff starting 5 years later was only difference between a few thousands.
In the mean time interview elsewhere
If you think you have the skills, go get another job. Its a lost war in existing environment as HR almost always has some or the other reason for paying you what they're paying you!
Why did you accept a lowball offer? And why does other people’s salary matter?
Sometimes people don’t understand there may be a reason you are getting paid less. There are people with more experience, education/certifications, cost of living. So much goes into pay. The market is hot but the grass is not always greener on the other side.
Then that’s your fault. Doesn’t mean the firm owes you anything. And your point still doesn’t account for what I said about experience, education, COL.
Raise with HR, ask them what is a process for a review
I’d communicate with RL. They are there to help guide you and fight for you in CRT. But I think it would also be a combination of RL and a discussion with HR. Seriously though, These companies are so obtuse about this. Figure this s**t out already. People are talking more openly about salaries than ever before.
It’s illegal for a company to have any rules against discussing salaries.
What’s your current salary now? And do you know the salary band of your role?
Hang on - you are saying that when you got hired as an A/SA, you got salary X . Everyone who joined at the same cohort level after you got X+20k and your salary was never adjusted? That is impossible under the current comp model, atleast for advisory. Are you assurance, tax or IFS? Did you check the salary sheet on fishbowl?
Sounds like a you problem. Speak to your counselor or partner and understand the compensation process. Maybe they have you slated for a huge increase in a few months at raise time? If what you say is true, bring it up and discuss it with people that can do something about it.
