You need to find your own style. Fashion at its core should be a reflection of who you are. What works for someone else doesn’t mean it works for you.
For example- If you’re not a hipster type, you shouldn’t wear the latest hipster trends, even if they look good or if other people say you look good in them.
What you need to do is:
1) Research- buy some fashion mags and see what the latest styles are. Buy some lifestyle/hobby mags based on what you like and see what people (who are similar to you theoretically) in them are wearing.
2) TRY a bunch of different stuff at the beginning and seeing what looks flattering on you AND also whether it reflects who you are.
This will take time, people spend years developing their “look” so this will be trial and experimentation and evolution over the years. And then of course your style will and should change as you change too.
Tell me you are British, without telling me you are British
I’m Indian too, but haven’t heard it much back home

Start getting your clothes tailored - half of fashion is an appropriate fit and tailoring can be pretty reasonable for things you wear frequently.
I have no sense of personal style either but I’ve gotten better over time by reading r/malefashionadvice and browsing fashion mags. Make sure you have the following basics:
Jeans - Buy in person to ensure proper fit. Buy same fit in dark blue, light blue, and black.
Shirts - Have a collection of properly fitting t-shirts that compliment your body type. A few of each color that you like to wear. Make sure to purchase at least 4-5 nice polos and button ups as well. Would buy solid colors or simple patterns to start with and expand from there. Make sure you have plenty of white t-shirts as a base when wearing a jacket.
Shoes - Recommend nice looking white sneakers to start i.e. Nike Killshot, Adidas Advantage, Vans Classics.
Jackets - Denim jacket, corduroy jacket, and black bomber. One of these will go with almost any outfit.
Also purchase a few nice belts and a pair of ray bans or similar. Staying in shape and maintaining a nice haircut go a long way too. Good luck! I might not look super trendy, but getting the basics down has helped me feel a lot more confident and put-together. Once you’re comfortable, you can begin to refine your personal style.

Let someone else dress you. If you pick your own clothes, you will always hold back and never become "fashionable."
Also make sure you get the right fit.
Make a mental note when you’re out and about when you see someone dressed how you think you’d like to be, then write in your phone Notes what they had on. Keep a list
Take someone with you when you go clothes shopping. Of course pick someone who is known to be stylish or whose style you admire.
I would literally give a fashionable friend a budget of like 2k and have them buy things for you and show you how to put them together.
2k! I could never spend that much on clothes. Nordstrom rack is just fine
Maybe you can be pensioner chic. Just needs intention, not changing yourself

Who needs clothes, naturism is the eco-friendly option. Alternatively I agree you should let a friend buy for you. And choose your new haircut
Pinterest is also great if you like visuals. Nordstrom had stylists. Not sure if there is an additional cost but its worth it to check (also clothes can range from fast fashion prices to higher end brands, so you don’t have to drop a ton of money). I also believe in buying basics and building around that.
Pinterest might be the easiest place to start. Also for me, clothing is all about fit!
Stitch fix helped me out for a while and when I got the gist of what I liked I canceled and continued on my own.
