You are automatically ported over to h1b as of October 1 .. however your visa will be of F-1 .. if you ever decide to leave the country, you can’t come back without a new h1b stamp
As long as the filing was under “change of status”
Depending on whether your H1B application is filed as COS or Consular processing. For COS no worries, but for latter you will remain in F1-OPT and can switch to H1B only if you leave US and get it stamped
Just remember, gotta get it stamped at a US Embassy abroad and do the whole “interview” process.
