Day off tomorrow... what should I do?
I have a few consultants I think this applies to.

You’ve been replaced.
Not much of a struggle.
You don't struggle. You step aside.
You’ve been bamBoozled. And replaced. BA1’s advice is spot on.
Sweep the leg
Yeah, that’s a really unfortunate situation (assuming you had an attachment to the “power”/role), but do what you can to show grace, professionalism, and focus on the end results.
Sadly, that's the beginning of the end of your role. Much good advice is in the posts above. The best thing to do now is focus on a new project, and support the incoming lead, so as not to burn any bridges. Last kind of person anyone wants to work with is a person who cannot manage his or her emotions properly.
So... The exact same thing happened to me and I struggled and then told I was "not a team player" which are firing words so I asked around. Turns out they were vetting him and I was in the clear until I fought the change. Now I'm not...
Don’t overthink it. They may have just decided that you aren’t ready for a PM role. And instead want you to move to an operational role on the same project. These things happen all the time. Don’t get hung up on titles
Too many voices from leadership on here.
“Too many voices from leadership on here”.
I honestly don’t know what that means
How do I combat power struggle when a PM brings me on to replace the current lead who will still remain on engagement
@D2: you have one of two options here - either be graceful and work with the former lead, or be tone-deaf and do what's necessary for the good of the project. It's a delicate balancing act to get a win-win situation from having both successfully navigated the political waters of such a tenuous situation, and doing what's best by the client. Often, what happens is: either the disaffected former lead either finds a new assignment, or finds a new firm / organization to work at.
FWIW: I have backfilled three different projects where I replaced the acting manager. The manager being replaced was always told the same thing you are being told.
To be honest, there is nothing for you to fight. Decisions have already been made. Best thing you can do is protect your brand and help with the transition
BA2, what’s your level? You sound like leadership.
