Ebay PMs - figure out a way to stop the classic scam of someone buying an item and telling the seller to text them with questions about the product. They have no intention of paying and it’s a scam. If you get an ML engine hooked up to detect these kinds of messages, you could block them automatically and relist the item. The last three times I’ve sold something this same thing happened, all from different buyers with messages that only differed by a few words. Easy solve for this.
I have found the opposite in my experience. Most companies do a terrible job promoting from within, which to me makes no sense. The cost of externally hiring is huge compared to growing your team's knowledge and influence. Definitely companies out there that value this. I wouldn't worry too much about the titles. Learn how to do the work, make your resume read to that role you want, and then apply to jobs at your current or future employer. If you want to stay with your company start a conversation with people with those titles. Learn how they got there and maybe they'll like you enough to give you a shot at it. Best of luck!
Recruiters mean well, but that doesn't mean they know.
I don't think that's necessarily true. Sure, might occur more often, but not always.
I would keep looking for job openings. Waiting to be hired from within seems like a trap.
I disagree, at least from my experience. Don't give up - there are plenty of opportunities out there. On a side not, have you had your resume professionally optimized?
Nope. Is this something you have personal experience with? Do you recommend? I'm guessing since you mention it, you do recommend it, but I guess I'd like to hear more.
I usually work with a recruiter, and I haven't had much trouble getting my foot through the door with my resume, other than the opaque "well they don't want to hire an architect from outside unless that person already holds an architect title" 🙄
