1. Confidence - you didn’t fluke your way to a senior consultant and you’re getting interviews so it means you have something they want - use that to remind yourself you can do this. 2. Story telling - literally go back through your project list and identify key stories that emphasize important skills - leadership, problem solving, ambiguity, data finesse, client management, conflict etc. and some personal stories reflecting personality, decision, making and management style. Identify the top 5 stories and really know those stories down till you can say this was person xs facial recognition 3.Structuring stories - per the above comment; look up star but try RSTAR - L: Results ( high level), situation, task, action, result and emphasize th result in context of why this as super critical. I also like to add L ie learnings about myself. 4. Delivery: be yourself and don’t fake a false impression. Genuinely feel like you belong there and demonstrated executive presence - my going hypothesis is this might be where you’re not hitting it. Look up some good Ted Talks and articles. 5. Follow up - always send a brief thank you note for time - it’s a polish and touch that’s largely forgotten these days. Assumption - you’re good enough on casing.

Make a note of what you think wrong with each interview, then practice the questions you remember from those interviews, technical and behavioral with a person and record your improvements until you think you're ready for the next interview

This. I did this exact thing awhile back after I got all the way to final stage and didn’t land the job and realized there were two key questions that likely didnt work in my favor/ titled the decision. I went back to the drawing table and reworked my stories/ approach and practiced a bit. Got asked a variation of those questions in next interview and absolutely knocked them out of the park/ got the job.

Use STAR for behavioral interviews and practice with friends (mix of those who understand your space and do not). It helps you understand and clearly communicate things that count. I've had a friend ask "Why does that matter? Why is that impressive?" And for some points I made, I realized it didn't matter. Otherwise, look at common behavioral questions and have scenarios that you can use as your response. Also, ask questions about the company that truly matter to you. Diversity is a huge concern of mine when I decide to work at a company, so I tend to ask a lot of tough questions about the company's initiatives and my concerns. I got feedback from a recruiter saying that the company really valued those parts of our conversation.

I wanted to flag so others can know, I live in mcol and I just received an offer for 120k base and a 15k signing bonus. I have three years of experience. I asked for a signing bonus and a 110k salary. If you are a senior, you should definitely be applying and just see what comes up. Crazy the market for seniors right now

For folks exiting to FAANG / Product at start ups or really any hot company. How do you go about networking to get the interview? Do you apply then cold email someone you may have an “in”with, or are you picking say 10 companies and then having warm contacts there that you’ll ping when you see a job. I’ve been passively looking for jobs but zero luck, I only want to leave for the right fit. Big 4 here so feel my brand won’t auto get me an interview like mbb/t2

Interviewing with a small internal strat team (currently 3 FTEs) led by the CSO. One VP was awesome, Ex MBB really energetic/excited is with 1.5 yrs in tenure. Then interviewed with the other VP and Manager. They weren’t great, overall not quite at the same level as the VP in terms of professionalism and pedigree. They were very tactical and felt more like middle managers without vision. The latter two seem to have grown up in the company (3-4 years)

In house interviews: I finished a final round of interviews and was expecting a final decision after the interviews. Rather than yes or no, the recruiter told me that the feedback is positive but they need to interview one more candidate to compare since I am the first one interviewed. And they wanted to add one more meeting with their new team member starting next week. Is this common and what’s the best way to deal with this unexpected message? Thanks!
