My skills range from content creation, emerging technology, streaming, social media, digital marketing, digital strategy, UX and public relations/crisis communications. But I’m having a hard time convincing hiring managers that my “non-traditional” background translates to marketing/comms roles. How do you break into corp world from journalism?

5-6months back some 3rd party HR applied in Accenture CN for me and since then status is showing on hold. What does this even means and will I not be able to apply for the same or other role again untill this on hold status goes away. Jump ship or stick it out? I’m a 31 y/o SFA with a Fortune 100 and am learning absolutely nothing. I have 9 years FP&A experience. All we get is busywork and no real opportunity to grow or take a more challenging role since they’re dying for SFAs. Do I stick it out for an eventual Manager role so I can be more marketable to a future employer, or try to pivot out of Finance to a new type of role and company now? I recently received a job offer at a new company (!!) but I'm only 6 weeks away from being fully vested at my current company (which has a policy where you need to make it to three years or you don't get to keep any of the company's contributions).
Is it worthwhile telling this to the HR team so I could get a delayed start date at the new company? Or is that a no no?
The companies are a part of two different holding companies btw.
