How do I learn discipline?

Commit yourself to building one small habit. Focus on only one habit a time, starting with something small and using the momentum/sense of achievement from that to build another slightly bigger habit. Rinse and repeat

Power of habit is another good book.

Another way to do is just practice. If you want to work on getting out of bed when your alarm rings, lay down under the covers, set your alarm, and when it rings, get out of bed and make your bed. Do a lap around your apartment then do it again.

You can apply this to lots of things

like

Start with small things. E.g I’ll at least read a book for 20minutes before going to bed. Sooner for later you realize the benefits of being disciplined and kinda get addicted to it.

Five Second Rule by Mel Robbins pretty good read about focus and discipline and not hesitating. There is a daily journal goes along with it.

One super simple way but it takes something...

Take a cold shower every day. You will have more discipline than most and be super happy and healthy as a side benefit.

What are you trying to be disciplined about?

Practice

Start with 10 minutes a day, you will slowly find yourself creeping into overtime, then extend it and creep overtime again.

Small habits.

Start at age 4 or 5.

Discipline is all about forming habits. You can read “the secret power of habit” to help jump start your understanding about how habit works so well for discipline .

The fatigue is real. For those who have been very careful, what are you still doing/not doing and what have you given up on? I’ll start. I still wear a mask and sanitize the crap out of my hands when I go out, wash when I get back. I have stopped wiping down things that come in my apartment and I have started seeing friends - outdoors only, not in groups.

I am really miserable at my current job, and just do not feel it is the right fit for me. However, my manager does not know I’m unhappy. I am never the type to complain and very much a “yes” person, and outwardly maintain a positive attitude. I’m very anxious that when I quit, my manager is going to be completely blindsided (and angry) because I’ve given no indication of unhappiness. Should I start planting the seed that I’m unhappy, or just continue on acting happy knowing I’ll be leaving soon?

My husband never reads and wants to start reading as a new hobby. What is a good book that you would recommend for a 40 year old man? Not self help books, but maybe something with action. I think he would like the Bourne series, but he saw all the movies so he's not interested, but something similar.

Can someone offer advice? I currently am working in finance and accounting at the big 4, but I really want to go into a different field like PR, communications, HR or project management. I know they are all vastly different but I just don’t feel like I have a shot in any of these because of my background.

like

I recently got 2 offers and I am trying to decide between them mainly based on WLB.
My profile - UX Strategist / Consultant, YOE-15, Seattle Area

Offer 1 - #Cisco, Strategist in CX team
200K base + 25% bonus + 35-40K RSU + 10% sign on bonus

Offer 2 - #BCG Platinion, Lead Design Strategist
185K base + 20 - 40% + 10% profit sharing bonus

So the total comp is almost in the same range. BCG is a big brand name but is known for notorious work hours. Is it true that BCGians spend 50-60 hrs/week?
