How do I motivate myself to work anymore? I slogged away in my 20s to get into good schools and my motivation was to beat the competition. I then joined life sciences consulting My motivation: patient impact, impress others with SME knowledge, smarts. Just moved to the UK and luckily found the perfect job for my experience. But I find I’m no longer interested in work, I do the minimum, don’t revel in recognition, my work ethic has reduced to nothing. I don’t want to shine any longer. HELP!

I took the time to focus on myself. Found new hobbies, started grad school, got into the best shape of my life. Decided that if I didn’t address the burnout then I wouldn’t want to move forward and chase after the next big thing when it comes. Part of me misses work being everything but there’s value to working on yourself as well.

Thanks so much for sharing this. It looks very interesting, I do need to think about what I really want, because at this point I don’t want to do anything, I just want to be. Ugh I hate that I’m being such a negative nancy. I do appreciate your input PA1, it’s very kind of you to take the time to respond with such patience.

I think it’s hard to want anything when we’re all trying to survive our new reality with the pandemic. It’s a positivity sucker for sure. We’ve had time to sit around and see how much BS is really out there. I’m finishing my MSIS in the spring and totally indifferent about that or future jobs. To be mid twenties and indifferent is kind of sad...but life goes on. I’m considering a second masters in finance to kill time. Anyone have thoughts or advice there?

However there is no rent agreement or rent receipts.

My floor supervisor (direct report) married the operations manager two weeks ago. I can’t say anything to either of them without hearing it repeated back to me from the other one. Even if he didn’t share information, there are other issues…see below
