Need help deciding if this offer is worth moving for. Received an offer from Booz Allen Hamilton for an Associate level Sr. Systems Engineer in Los Angeles for $135k base. I countered $150k and a $15k singing bonus and asked if I could be brought on as a lead associate since I've been a lead/manager for a while in my current company.
Current company TC: $125k in Utah.
YOE: 7 with M.S. and MBA

Ask for as much as you can with a straight face.
General rule of thumb is not to leave your current role for less than 20% salary increase unless some other factors are at play. You should’ve covered this at the beginning with the recruiter when they asked for salary expectations. I would just tell the company that you appreciate the offer but the current offer is less than you make now and you wouldn’t be comfortable with leaving your company for less pay, especially in this market. Then ask for your target salary (110k or whatever)
Yeah that makes sense. I anchored too low since I was factoring in the COL adjustment from DC to TX so that’s my fault. However the mid market salary adjustment wasn’t even known during the beginning of my recruitment process with this company so that’s what’s really thrown me off on how I should approach asking for more money
I was in similar shoes with a firm. Anchored myself too low initially and was hard to negotiate for a higher base or signing bonus due to my 3 YoE. I would say try negotiating to pitch your value adds and target salary or range. Good luck!
I personally made the jump even tho my offer couldn’t be negotiated. Factors outside of compensation mattered for me such as firm name, WLB, and type of work.
