How do I promote collaboration beyond my classroom? It sounds easier said than done.

With lots of support from coworkers, family and friends I left a toxic school environment mid fall. I struggled with not being in the classroom some days thinking I made the best call and cant wait to move up in my restaurant career then to feeling lost and like I was missing myself for 3 months. I then got another teaching position. The school atmosphere is lighter and feels happy over all. But each day, I dont think the true joy I had before my last school is still there. Anyone else/thoughts?

What’s a good online school to get a masters in tax? I want a synchronous program (i.e. still involves live lectures / classrooms) - not fully self-study. Any personal experiences / recommendations / insight appreciated. So far the best one I have found is USC but it’s quite expensive. I will still apply and try to get some scholarships but would love to hear about some quality programs that are more affordable.

During class do you have students do their writing assignments on paper or on google classroom or another online app?

We started state testing today with my kiddos taking their FSA Writing. It is the first time I have seen them in school as they are a digital class, and such an amazing experience to see them together as they talked amongst themselves before we went to the classroom to test. You can see how much they miss being together. ❤

My District decided to initiate a “no zero policy” starting now. I was informed by administration that when a student does not turn in their work, I still have to give the student a fifty percent even though that student didn’t earn it. I teach sixth graders and I am not sure how I feel about this. Any words of advice?

I have a flipped classroom and my biggest challenge today is that my high school students don’t slow down long enough to read the directions/ instructions/ deliverables. Anyone see this happening?

Where can I find an inexpensive rug for my classroom?

Do the support staff (speech, OT, PT, social work, etc.) give you a schedule or email ahead about visiting your classroom. Sometimes they all show up at once and it's really disruptive.

I am an elementary pe teacher and have made many modifications for in person teaching. I have developed lessons that can still work on skill development, but limit the amount of activities that get student’s heart rates up. My administration and school nurse has advocated for students to mix and not stay 6 ft apart in my classroom and now are advocating for them not to wear masks while doing physical activity. I have a newborn child and a toddler. At what point do I look for other employment?

If you’ve been at a company for about six months and you’ve also started grad school. During annual raises, would it be wrong to ask for a 3k+ raise? Can pursuing your masters be a good enough explanation for a raise because you’re enhancing your skill set apart from the work you’re doing?
