Find someone to do the work for you. subcontract them.
or if you really want to disattach: just tell the client you’re leaving and you recommend these two ppl.

if you’re original contract allows you..
W9 them - I have them sign MY own non-compete, nda, and formal contract.
just be aware: you’re now responsible for the work & onboarding/managing them (more work). your numbers need to be setup right or else you’ll lose money.
I feel you. ✊🏻

I said I had an offer for a longer term gig at a place I’d always wanted to work, that I couldn’t pass up. That way it sounded like a career decision, it’s not about them.
You could also say you have a health / personal / family issue you have to deal with. But I always feel like that’s bad karma in case one of those things does really happen.
Give a week’s notice if you can and tie up the loose ends on whatever you’re working on. It’s just a job, they’ll find someone else to replace you. Just like they would lay any of us off at a moment’s notice, you shouldn’t feel bad. Plus that’s the point of freelance. Nobody owns you.
Since that experience, I try to take shorter gigs. It always feels great to move on.
