Which company would you join?
I currently work in Sales with the intention of moving over to marketing in the near future. I received two offers for BDR/SDR roles from Sprout Social and Gong. Both salaries are around the same (Gong - base 63k + anticipated $25k in commission, Sprout - 55k base + anticipated $25k in commission).
I like both companies’ software and it extremely hard to decide which position will get me into marketing faster as it is not a traditional BDR path to take.

Hate to break it to you, but each role has an element of "adult babysitting" to it.
PMO work is definitely on the extreme side of babysitting. I would hate doing it forever
There's different "levels" of project management and different aspect at each level.
Unfortunately a lot of times people are relegated to tracking action items, risk, issues, status updates...
But the overall planning and coordination to make a project happen is complex and can include "real" consulting.
You could help define and setup PMOs including governance design, training, tools, etc,
You can scale up to Program Management for coordinating across multiple projects.
Or scale up higher to portfolio management. True portfolio management and program management isn't just a consolidation of status updates and reports, but decision making.
Company has $500M. 3 projects are behind schedule, market shifted, company strategy changes... What should the organization do? Where do they invest their people? Their $, resources, equipment.
You can shoot from the hip or use data to make decisions. Portfolio Management with underlying program/project management can make that happen. Not just meeting minute, action items and status updates.
See if your practice has any of that and isn't just a staff aug of PMs
Not the perfect analogy, but something similar to not enjoying being a chef because all you do is cut potatoes.
It stinks they assigned you as potato cutter but there is so much more. From different prep or cooking stations, menu design, or you could be that guy from Restaurant Impossible who goes in and tells them how to make their restaurant. better from A to Z.
I started my career "cutting potatoes". Gathering status updates and developing reports... But learned a lot along the way. Schedule management, cpi/spi, ms project etc...
Now I do what I mentioned above. True project portfolio management.
Hopefully those roles/projects are available at your firm but it stinks that you are only exposed to cutting potatoes so far.
What do you do PMO in? If it’s tech you can easily pivot into a more functional role within your technology or if you want to go to industry, try a program lead role
Strategy is a real option
