This is probably my main issue lol
Make a list of common mistakes - continue to add to it. Before you submit anything, check it for those common mistakes. For emails, go to settings to set a delay for sent emails. It will sit in outbox for a minute to give you time to fix mistakes after that “oh crap” realization you get right after hitting send.
This is a good idea - like, dates, names, page numbers, headers/footers, TOC, etc. it’s all the dumb stuff that I can’t do right

A good secretary or paralegal (or even a junior associate) can be super helpful with stuff like this. I’ve always been a “macro thinker” and overlook minutiae. So someone who is more mindless detail oriented would seriously help you. We’re all good at something, and not at others. So what I used to do when in private practice was to tell my secretary what I’m not good at and make sure she checked the stuff I knew I’d miss.

For some reason I always end up saying red flaps instead of red flags in emails/ dd memos
Print it out and read over it before submitting
I do that and unfortunately my brain still skips over things
I try and let drafts sit overnight before editing them and turning them back to the partner/client. Not always possible with the demands of the job but I notice more of these details after I’ve been able to step away from the draft for a bit and allowed my brain to recharge/reset.
I second this. Even if you can “step away” for 30 minutes (grab a coffee, take a walk, etc. but don’t think about work) and then review the document, it makes all the difference!
Do you know why these mistakes happen? I notice I introduce mistakes when EDITING but less so when writing. So I’m hyper vigilant when editing. I also noticed I introduce mistakes when I’m rushing. So I try to slow down. Take my time, and don’t worry about the pressure to flip a response back in 5 mins.

Editing my own work is something I struggle with. That’s why I like a other set of eyes. H the substance isn’t the issue. It’s random embarrassing typos, etc., that get me. As I said, a good secretary goes a long way in correcting that.
Make a checklist and have a trusted colleague check your work. It’s much easier to catch other people’s mistakes than your own. Also you’re human and every brief I get has errors. Honestly it’s the senior and partner level attorneys who’s work product is riddled with errors. You’re doing fine.
I'll throw in my two cents here, cuz I struggle with similar issues (also a 4th year). I don't think you have the emotional bandwidth for the work. Maybe take a vacation, get a change of scenery, and really take stock of why you're at the job. Reflection and rest often puts me back on the horse.
This is probably true. New parent and my brain is gone.
Make a check list and have a junior review, then you review the junior. I find that I have a more critical eye when reviewing others work and I also find that others that review my work have a more critical eye simply because they didn’t spend the time drafting. Also sounds like you have to slow down and be careful. Being meticulous is an excellent skill for a lawyer.

How about a list and a junior/secretary reviewing?
