How do I submit my 2 weeks notice while using all of the PTO I have? First job ever.

Why not just get paid out for your PTO? Also if you're exiting to a competitor, they'll cut you day of.

like

So have them pay up lol

If the timing works, at the end, roll off your current project and tell your staffing folks you want to take a long vacation. Time your vacation to burn 100% of your leave. Do everything you can to keep from being staffed on another engagement while on leave. Two weeks before then end, put in your notice. Key to this method: do NOT put another project under the impression that you're going to join the team. That's how you screw people over. Don't be a jerk.

Yeah this isn't usually an option. You will get cashed out for any accumulated PTO left after your last working day. So if you want a couple weeks off before you start your next job, just arrange that delayed start date with your new employer and the net result is the same.

like

If you can't cash out then you should not have company save that money. But then even so I would leave on a neutral note..make sure roll off is satisfactory. If you have 2 weeks to burn I would talk to the manager and work something out where you can take days off and rollout is ok

Just chill on the bench for as long as you can and then get severance and cash out PTO

I’ve always wondered - why do some people use up their PTO rather than getting it cashed out? Do you get more money that way? Is the PTO cash out taxed more than the regular salary you’d get while billing vacation hours?

Yes each hour of PTO is whatever your “hourly rate” would be. So 10 days worth would equal your gross bi weekly amount. The take home on cash out may vary due to taxes but should balance out at end of the year anyway. But the tax implication would be what you’d look at. The more PTO you cash out, the more you will pay in taxes.

You can’t take PTO during your two weeks notice.

At ACN, you can cash out up to 240 hours of pto. That will decrease to 200 with next fiscal year, just like the pto rollover (thanks Julie! So many ways to use our pto in the pandemic!) The cash out is equivalent to your salary, so no real benefit to burning prior to leaving unless it is to get down to that threshold.

I need perspective. I was scheduled for a bunch of spa services today before a vacation. Early in the morning, a spa lady calls me to reschedule. I tell her I can’t reschedule due to my job. She replies that she remembers me mentioning that from a previous appointment she “helped me rescue.” She never acknowledged knowing me prior to that comment. I was offended as it came across as judging my stress level and availability based on a service I received years ago. Did I get unreasonably upset?

I’ve done really well in my 2 years with my current big 4 firm and am coming up for promotion in July. I am sitting on an offer with a step up in title and 40% pay increase. They say grass is not greener on the other side (hello unlimited PTO and all the other terrible comments I’ve read for new firm. Guess who 😂😅) but it’s hard to justify not moving. Am I making a huge mistake leaving behind my 2 year hard work going to the unknown or should I just go for it and take the pay and title!? Help.

I accepted a new job, they said PTO was “generous.” I find out it’s 19 days a year of PTO (which includes sick days). I have two young children and we like to vacation 1-2x a year (no more than a few days away each time). Am I crazy that this is pretty limited time off? 8 of the normal holidays off during the year (working the week between Christmas and NYE). Thoughts? I dont know if lack of PTO is a good reason to back out, is it?
