How do I track my 401k cost basis when I rollover from one employer to another? I don’t owe any taxes right?

There is no need to track cost basis on pre-tax accounts because the entire withdrawal is taxable, not just gains

like

After-tax $ put in a traditional IRA can be tracked with an IRS form, and excluded from taxing at eventual withdrawal (but not the earnings of course)

I assume it is the same with after-tax $ added to traditional 401k

You don't. No.

like

401k rollovers are not taxed (unless you are rolling to a Roth account)

Just make sure you rollover directly, without you holding money for long.

You will, however, owe taxes on withdrawals eventually (unless it's s Roth 401k)

If you made after-tax contributions, those are not taxable again upon withdrawal, do should be tracked

I keep an Excel fine with three annual inputs (year end balance, year's contributions, and company match) and a couple simple formulas. It is not necessary rather a simple annual check-in that I can reference later if curious. No tax implications as noted above.

Im trying to flip a new build - long story, but have had certain circumstances come up and can't keep the home - but I'm now competing with the builder because they have homes still being built in the neighborhood (there is nothing against me selling it). They have started offering added incentives and low balling due to market conditions. What do I have and what can I do to sell mine? Or should I give up and just rent it out and wait? Any advice appreciated.
