They’re usually not covered by insurance. Most pediatrician offices have doctors that are certified. I had my daughter early during lockdown but was able to do my consults online. Also check out your local La Leche League on FB or google. You can definitely find someone who can meet you however you’d like
Our pediatrician has an IBCLC who we used. And because it was thru their office insurance covered at 100%.
I recommend in person. They need to be able to see if your pump parts fit correctly and I’m not sure that can be done virtually.
Hi! The IBCLCs that I know use a special platform that is HIPPA compliant for these virtual consults. And I did an initial virtual consult to asses needs which was followed up by an in person visit. Try https://lactationnetwork.com I think it has a directory of lactation consultants and will tell you if they are in your insurance network!

Ours was completely covered by insurance. I gave birth right after covid hit but I was still able to get 4 in-person visits. It was super helpful, not sure how it would work virtually.
The coverage is insurance specific. I had to pay and submit for reimbursement. I would call the hospital where you delivered as well. The hospital I work for has consultations for moms that delivered there and they don’t charge.

Mine was not covered by insurance. But I think in person is kind of a must. Mine was amazing and part of that was because she was right next to me positioning baby on the breast and showing me exactly how everything needed to be done.
